The Upside Foundation of Canada is pleased to announce a partnership with Founder Institute Toronto.  Founder Institute is the world’s premier startup launch program for talented entrepreneurs.  Founder Institute offers a comprehensive step-by-step program to give entrepreneurs the structure, mentor support, and network of entrepreneurs they need to start an enduring company. Based in Silicon Valley and with chapters across 60 countries, the Founder Institute’s mission is to “Globalize Silicon Valley” and build sustainable startup ecosystems worldwide.  For more information, please email kamal@incmind.com or check out the website.

Founder Institute Toronto’s partnership with The Upside Foundation of Canada demonstrates the accelerator’s commitment to giving back.  Founder Institute encourages its cohorts, alumni and mentors to donate options or warrants to the Upside Foundation.  The donations will result in significant contributions to registered Canadian charities upon a successful liquidity event.

A huge thank you to the mentors who have already donated warrants, including Aran Hamilton, Ben Zifkin, Jason Atkins, Mark Skapinker, Mike Katchen, Rob Antoniades, and Saul Colt.

Kamal Hassan, Director of Founder Institute and an entrepreneur, says, “The Upside Foundation model is brilliant. Many founders find that our businesses take up all of our available cash, yet we still want to continue to support charities we believe in. Upside offers us the chance to continue our giving, through equity, while we reinvest in our businesses.”

We thank the Executive team of Founder Institute Toronto for choosing to become a community partner and taking a leadership role in the movement to embed corporate philanthropy in the Canadian startup sector.

The deadline to apply for the next Founder Institute Toronto program is July 31st. The program starts on August 8th.
